In the year 1982, Mr Kurian Jose Sr., began manufacturing food grade Agar Agar (china grass) for the local market. As a result of constant focus on R&D, Bacteriological, Pharmaceutical and Plant Tissue Culture grade Agar Agar was introduced in the year 1989. Currently the company has a production capacity over 350 M.T per annum. Marine Hydrocolloids has since then introduced several other products like Wonder Gel, Plant gel, Agarose, etc. The company also began exports to several countries.
Today Marine Hydrocolloids is the only exporter and market leader of quality Agar Agar in India.
